Countdown to 2015: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health

The “Countdown to 2015: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health” is a global initiative that includes academics and representatives of multilateral and bilateral agencies, professional organizations and civil society who share the common goal of increasing accountability for progress towards the Millennium Development Goals for improving the health of mothers and children. The visible face of Countdown includes international and country-level conferences, country profiles, scientific articles, reports and its webpage (www.countdown2015mnch.org). Its greatest contribution is to assemble data from multiple sources on coverage of proven effective interventions for improving the survival of mothers and their children, and produce and disseminate new analyses of these data  at country and international levels to draw attention to continuing needs and inequities. The IEA is an active member of the Countdown initiative, and provides oversight on data quality, analyses and interpretation.
