Call for Bids Opens for the IEA World Congress of Epidemiology 2030

The International Epidemiological Association (IEA) is pleased to announce that the call for bids to host the World Congress of Epidemiology (WCE) 2030 is now open. Eligible host organizations from the European region are invited to submit proposals to host the flagship scientific meeting of the global epidemiology community.

The World Congress of Epidemiology is held every three years and brings together approximately 800 to 1,200 delegates involved in epidemiological research, education, and public health practice from around the world. The congress provides a unique platform for scientific exchange, collaboration, and professional networking.

Under the IEA’s regional rotation system, Europe has been designated as the host region for WCE 2030, and bids are therefore being sought from eligible European hosts.

Key Dates

  • Call for bids opens: 1 September 2026
  • Notice of Intent deadline: 15 October 2026
  • Invitation to shortlisted bidders: By 15 November 2026
  • Full proposal deadline: 15 February 2027
  • Evaluation and selection: March 2027
  • Announcement of the host destination and dates: By 31 March 2027

Interested hosts should submit a Notice of Intent addressed to the IEA President/Secretariat on behalf of the proposed Local Organizing Committee (LOC). The letter should outline the motivation for bidding, proposed host city, lead organization, preliminary dates, and anticipated benefits of hosting WCE 2030.

Who Can Apply?

Proposals should be submitted by local epidemiologists who are IEA members, or by organizations supported by one or more IEA members from the host area. Applicants should demonstrate the capacity to organize an international scientific congress and provide details of the proposed Local Organizing Committee and supporting stakeholders.

The selected host organization will work closely with the IEA to deliver an inclusive, high-quality, and financially responsible World Congress of Epidemiology that advances the Association’s mission and strengthens the global epidemiology community.

Further information on eligibility requirements, proposal criteria, and the history of previous World Congresses of Epidemiology is available in the bidding documentation below.
