ECE Immersion Program | 17-23 November 2024The International Epidemiological Association (IEA) will pilot a 6-day immersion program for early-career epidemiologist members 17-23 November 2024 in Porto, Portugal. The program will provide attendees with tools to manage and advance their careers, while also creating meaningful opportunities to network with senior epidemiologists and build organic mentoring relationships. To ensure the program meets these objectives and also ensures regional diversity among students, only 3 (three) early-career members from each IEA region will be selected to participate. Once accepted participants will be required to pay a USD $1,000 fee and airfare, while IEA will provide faculty, lodging, breakfast, lunch and some evening activities. Applications for this program, along with a personal letter of interest, 2 (two) letters of recommendation, and a current CV should be sent to membership@ieaweb.org. Topics: Although the schedule is not yet finalized, topics covered during the program will include social determinants of health, grant writing, publishing, climate change and health, causal inference in epidemiology, measuring productivity and career success, syndemic of chronic and infectious diseases, confounding and mediation, systematic reviews, DAGs, effective communication, impacts of population aging, and more. One hour has also been set aside each day for one-on-one mentoring with instructors.
