This talk will summarize the threats to public health posed by Micro and Nano Plastics (MNP) and will cover:
1. Sources of exposure to MNP
2. Interactions of MNP with other environmental toxicants
3. Biological effects identified in experimental studies and their potential roles in human diseases
4. The complexity of measuring MNP in biospecimens
5. The presence of MNP in human tissues
6. Currently available epidemiological evidence
7. Our efforts to develop a scalable method for measuring MNP in epidemiological studies
8. Proof-of-concept data generated by our team
